City friends. Country connections. One community.
Life in rural and remote Australia comes with challenges that many of us living in our cities rarely get the opportunity to see or understand.
Friends of Bushed brings together people who care about rural Australia and want to help make a difference.
Based in Brisbane, Friends of Bushed is a relaxed community of supporters who meet regularly to learn more about the issues affecting rural and remote families, share ideas, build connections and explore practical ways we can help.
You don’t need to have lived in the bush. You don’t need any special skills. And you don’t need to make a major commitment.
You simply need an interest in rural Australia and a willingness to get involved.
Coffee. Conversation. Connection.
Once a month, Friends of Bushed gets together over coffee in Brisbane’s Bayside.
We’ll talk about what’s happening across rural Australia, hear from people working in rural communities and discuss ways that everyday Australians can lend a hand.
That might mean helping us:
- Raise awareness about issues affecting rural and remote families
- Support children’s education and access to services
- Raise funds for Bushed programs and projects
- Find businesses willing to donate products, services or experiences
- Connect Bushed with people and organisations who can help
- Support events and fundraising activities
- Volunteer skills, experience or professional expertise
- Generate new ideas and turn good ideas into practical projects
- Help rural families following droughts, floods, fires and other disasters
- Simply tell more people about the work of Bushed
- Sometimes the most valuable contribution might simply be knowing the right person to call.
Come and have a coffee with us.
Friends of Bushed isn’t about committees, formal meetings or endless agendas. It’s about bringing good people together who share a passion for rural Australia and asking a simple question:
What can we do to help?
Our face-to-face gatherings are held in Brisbane’s Bayside, around the Manly area.
Come along, have a coffee, meet some great people and discover more about the communities and families that make rural Australia such an important part of our country.
