Welcome to BushED, a respected organisation established in 2021 to address the unique challenges faced by families in remote and isolated regions of Australia. Our primary focus is to provide crucial educational support and comprehensive post-natal family care service in these underserved areas.
A Victoria University study, titled “Young people in rural and remote communities frequently missing out,” states Australia continues to face a significant challenge in providing quality education to those living outside urban centres. The study highlights that location and isolation are significant factors affecting the educational outcomes of children in rural and remote areas of Australia.

At the helm of BushED is Lyn French, a visionary leader and our CEO and founding director. Lyn’s personal journey as a parent in remote Australia was marked by fear and trepidation when her own children came along and compelled her to take charge of her children’s education. Her profound dedication to supporting families in remote Australia spans over 35 years, making her a driving force behind BushEd.
Complementing Lyn’s expertise, our team consists of exceptional individuals committed to educational assistance programs, enriching the team’s capabilities:
· Charles Alder, renowned as the Co-Founder of Rural Aid, brings invaluable experience in providing aid during the drought from 2015 to 2020, where Parma for a Farma became a massive hospitality success alongside Buy a Bale.
· Maxine Sharpe, an accomplished outback cattle station operator, mother, and home educator, possesses firsthand knowledge of the unique challenges faced by families in remote areas.
· Jacinta Warland, an archaeologist, Indigenous heritage advocate, and veteran and community support specialist.
Education is deeply embedded in the hearts of our team members. We have dedicated years to supporting families in rural and remote Australia by:
· Offering tutoring services for over 3 decades.
· Advocating for educational needs within school P&C bodies across Queensland.
· Engaging with Queensland Government organisations.
Our unwavering commitment and passion drive our vision to bridge the educational gap for children in rural and remote Australia. We firmly believe that no child should be denied quality education based solely on their geographical location. By leveraging our determination and expertise, we aspire to empower these young minds, opening doors of opportunity that might otherwise remain closed.
At BushED, we invite you to join us in our transformative journey, making a lasting impact on the educational landscape of Australia. Together, we can ensure that every child, regardless of where they reside, receives the educational advantages they deserve. Let us come together and create a brighter future for the children of rural and remote Australia.
