Bushed.org.au is a not for profit charity whose mission is….
“Delivering equitable, inspirational, life changing educational resources to support all rural and remote Australian children who are geographically isolated. “
Our Why, What and How
Why: Our rural and remote students face unique challenges inside and outside of the classroom. Our rural and remote children are being left behind and not given the same opportunity as city children. City kids have a choice to go to a mainstream school and be taught by a qualified teacher, within a community of their peers. Our rural kids are at home in a remote classroom which sometimes may be quite basic. The kids are taught by mum who may have no experience in teaching yet she is balancing the important role of educating her children with working on the farm, house chores and office work.
Our rural and remote families do not have a choice with internet difficulties being one of the biggest challenges for rural and remote kids. All children, no matter where they live, deserve quality education. BushEd will ensure that children who live in rural and remote areas will not have to settle for a second rate education.
What: It is a well-known fact that our Australian outback children are best positioned to return to their origins and take the lead in the innovation and modernisation of the food chain in outback Australia, whilst contributing to future education and renewal of the agricultural industry. The education of our remote children is highly valuable as they will play an important role in the future, whether in the agricultural sector or any chosen field of study. Our young people deserve to be given equal support and opportunities to excel as their city cousins do.
The future of our rural and remote children’s path must be nurtured, and sustained. There are no others more important than our outback children who live, breathe, and value this way of living and they will lead us into the next decades of a modern environmentally sustainable future.
As the world changes rapidly, so too must our Australian education system. By working together, and helping each other, we can help our rural and remote children of the future.
How: BushED will provide tutors and access to a wide range of educational learning opportunities to support and enhance current school curriculums. Our Farm Gate tutors will provide term support to the children and families of rural and remote parts of Australia. Our online learning and tutoring services will supplement Farm Gate tutors using common technology platforms to allow access to a wide range of families and students.
Our Learning Opportunities program will enhance the curriculum with access to the Arts, Science, Technology and other non core curriculum subjects. This program will also provide access to educational one off events and financial assistance to families to support children’s learning.
Our programs will bring together the best available resources in person and online from around Australia and the World to support rural and remote children.
