We require help to supervise and co- teach our daughters Rachel year 5, Vera year 3 and Brooklyn year 2 via Charters Towers School of Distance Education. Our eldest son will be attending his 1st year of boarding school.
The Home Tutor will need to manage the school room on a daily basis. Being prepared and organised is essential with a multi age classroom. These tasks include and are not limited to: Organising and implementing the Distance Ed program with audio lessons and assessment tasks, the supervision of other lessons not completed online and encouraging our reading and spelling programs. You will need to communicate with the distance ed teachers and with myself in regard to the children’s progress and development. You will need to be competent in general computer technology as well as being able troubleshooting minor computer issues should they arise.
A private 1-bedroom self-contained cabin is provided. You will have your own room, king single size bed, cupboards and storage, a fully self-contained kitchen. A separate bathroom and toilet is located outside of your living area, on the end of the cabin. The children use the toilet during school hours. We prefer a non-smoking environment around the houses and children with a strictly no smoking policy inside the buildings. Mobile coverage is available around the homestead. Telstra is the best provider.
Food: You will be responsible for preparing your own breakfast, smoko, lunch and dinner at your cabin with station meat and bread, fruit, vegetables, other meal ingredients provided but your personal groceries at your expense or smoko, lunch and dinner meals can be provided by myself if you prefer.
Facilities: School room facilities: Is a 12x3m air-conditioned and well-resourced demountable adjacent to your accommodation with a breezeway separating the 2 buildings. The schoolroom is set up with 2 computers and 2 laptops, iPad, desks, dividers, stocked store room, landline phone/internet and approx 30 m from our house.
Transport: A 4wd private vehicle is recommend. We have 115km of gravel road. If you don’t have a vehicle, we still prefer someone with a licence and are happy take you into town or arrange lifts with other family/workers that are travelling to town. You will need to provide your own fuel for your vehicle.
Station life: Exmoor Station is situated on the little Bowen River 75 kms from small town Collinsville and 3 hr drive from major city Mackay. We are a commercial cattle operation and mustering is done by horses and working dogs with the occasional helicopter muster. The property is family run with 4 long term stockmen, my husband’s parents, a long term married couple with 2 girls also doing distance ed living on our adjoining property located 32km from Exmoor. We are isolated but there are always new places to see and things to do at Exmoor, we are fortunate to be surrounded by local fishing & camping spots, local camp drafts, rodeos and heritage pubs, day trips to the Whitsundays and the Pioneer Valley. We receive a mail service twice a week and often get groceries orders sent out from Collinsville if town trips aren’t planned.
