We are looking for an energetic person to oversee our school room for a couple of weeks. We have a daughter in Grade 6 who loves maths, likes English (struggles a bit with spelling) but dislikes HASS and science. She is house captain and generally likes school. She loves to cook and bake. Our son is 13 and in grade 8. He dislikes school and would prefer to chase cows and sheep all day. English is his least favourite subject as he can’t spell very well. He completes most writing tasks by recording audios or dictating a text and then attempting to edit. He doesn’t mind maths and puts up with all other subjects. We do history on paper while he attends on air lessons for all other subjects. He enjoys leather work and has so far made two way holders and knife pouches. Both children learn German as a language other than English as I am from Germany.
Our home is 61km from Surat with 45km of gravel road. St George is 93 km from our home (56km gravel) and Roma 140km (45km gravel to Surat). Surat is home of the Cobb&co museum, while the Balonne river in St George offers a lovely location for a picnic. There is also a winery to visit and the cotton trail to follow to the famous Nindigully Pub where you can eat The enormous Road Train Burger. In Roma you can visit the largest cattle sale facility in the southern hemisphere where up to 12000 head of cattle can be sold on Tuesdays. Roma has a beautiful nursery that opens on the weekends for business and scrumptious brekkie options.
We are a husband and wife team sharing the work with one other employee. We can offer a donga bedroom with ensuite and shared kitchen facilities for accommodation or a parking spot for a caravan with power and water. We run 500 head of cattle and 2500 dorpers. There is a stunning permanent water hole to catch some carp in as well as plenty of wildlife to observe. We do horse sport on weekends and play cricket in summer. We always have poddies around the house who are raised my our milking cows.
