Hello,
we are a family of four, living on a remote cattle station 70km south west of Doomadgee. The road is bitumen to the turnoff, then good gravel for 35km. The road is suitable for an SUV car and caravans will be fine.
Our little tackers are aged 6 (boy) and 3(girl). The boy is in grade 1 through Mt Isa Distance Ed and enjoys learning about interesting things – like science where things blow up and go bang! He is a good reader, likes drama and acting and likes being active. He does struggle with some work refusal at times and his emotional reaction to not being to do something, perfect and straight away.
We are a social but small crew, often all eating together (kids included). Others on the crew vary from 1-2 extra team members, with more during seasonal mustering periods.
We live in a social community, with many local events that we enjoy attending some of which are Gregory campdraft, or in nearby Burketown, Cloncurry and Mt Isa. We are situated right next door to Lawn Hill National Park (and although currently closed) it gives you some indication of how breathtaking our scenery is.
I (mum) have been back in the schoolroom, and I am also needed to help out with muster time.
We need someone who is keen to help out, both inside the schoolhouse and out, on the days I have to help. Outside school help would just be keeping an eye on the kids, making sure everyone is still alive at the end of the day. I would not expect any domestic help/housekeeper, just someone to keep an eye out on the kids for me. Ideally if you could help in the schoolroom from 8/8.30-3pm that would be perfect. We are flexible! Our schoolroom is currently in our house, in a spare bedroom as a tree fell on our schoolhouse during the flooding. The schoolroom has its own entry from outside and is working quite well.
When I am not required to help out in the paddock, the afternoon help is only for a few hours to allow me time to prepare the evening meal for everyone.
We don’t have accommodation currently, so our tutor would need to supply their own accommodation. Power, unlimited wifi and food all included. Food arrangements are very flexible – we’re happy to discuss this.
If you have a friend/ partner that is keen to come along- we’d love to have them. And if they’d like to help, this can be negotiated.
We love a beer at the end of the day, we like to attend events as a team and I really need someone I can trust with my kids. We are not far from the Hells Gate roadhouse and the helicopter fishing tours, we are not far from Burketown and the great fishing there. In a couple hours you can be in Fisherman’s paradise, Normanton/Karumba, and catching a feed of fish.
They are fun, outgoing, mostly well-behaved little tackers and love the bush, campfires and riding their horses.
