15,000 acres. 4000-6000 sheep. Hoards of kangaroos, camels, 20 guardian donkeys, horses, dogs, emus, chickens, pigs, goats, deer and two humans.
The Lynch family, originally from Ireland, drew it as a ballot block back in the early 20th century and gave it the name “Shandonvale”. The Stent-Smith family acquired it in 2007 and we have been bringing it back up to its full potential since then.
In 2017 we renovated the old Shearer’s Quarters and turned it into accommodation for guests who want to get a taste of the real Straya.

Cobbold Gorge sits on a 5,000-hectare privately owned tourism lease that has been excised from Howlong Station – a privately-owned cattle property which the Terry family have been grazing with Brahman cattle since 1964.
Simon Terry owns and operates the property with his wife Gaye and their family. Simon moved here as a young child, and discovered the gorge in the early 1990s. Soon afterwards, Cobbold Gorge Tours and Cobbold Village was established, and the Terry family have been sharing their home and unique experiences with visitors ever since.
